CPF Spotlight: Nikki Yunker

Nikki Yunker is one of the students supported by the California Press Foundation's Internship Grant Program this year.

A journalist at El Camino College in Torrance, Nikki is a reporting intern at the Easy Reader News this spring, supported by Cal Press.

Nikki is the spring 2026 editor in chief of Warrior Life, El Camino College’s student-run magazine, and previously served as editor in chief of The Union, the college’s student-run newspaper. Her work has earned awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Collegiate Press and the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

Through opportunities like these, Cal Press strengthens the pipeline from education to industry by investing in emerging journalists as they build professional newsroom experience.
