Panelists:
Robin Epley is an opinion writer for The Sacramento Bee, with a focus on Sacramento County politics. She was born and raised in Sacramento, was a member of the Chico Enterprise-Record’s Pulitzer Prize-finalist team for coverage of the Camp Fire, and is a graduate of Chico State. Robin received a Cal Press Internship Grant in 2010.
Cresencio Rodriguez-Delgado is KVPR's News Director. Prior to joining the station's news department in 2022, he was a reporter for PBS NewsHour and The Fresno Bee. Cresencio received a Cal Press Internship Grant in 2017.
Alexis Terrazas took over as El Tecolote’s editor-in-chief in June of 2014. A San Francisco native with extensive experience, both as a reporter and as an editor, he was awarded a Peninsula Press Club Herb Caen scholarship in 2006, before going on to study journalism at San Francisco State University. While at State he earned many journalism awards and did some writing for El Tecolote. He graduated in 2010 and began work for the San Francisco Examiner as a sports writer.

Panelists:
Armando Carmona, is a community strategist that works to uplift Latinx voices and causes impacting communities of color. Homegrown in the Inland Empire, Armando witnessed the strength and resilience of communities of color amidst challenges and obstacles. He trains spokespeople for local and national outlets, produces stories, and provides strategic connections to news teams across the country and in Latin America. He works with the Inland Empire Journalism Hub + Fund.
Maya Chupkov, is the Media & Democracy Program Manager at California Common Cause. Maya joins Common Cause after serving as the Director of Strategic Communications at the Public Advocates Office at the California Public Utilities Commission. Before that role, she worked as the Communications Director for the Council of Community Housing Organizations (CCHO), developing and implementing media and political advocacy initiatives around affordable housing and land use issues. Her work at CCHO included San Francisco’s passage of the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act, a win that will help keep families in their homes for generations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA).
Mario Lugay is the Senior Director of Innovation at Justice Funders. Mario partners with philanthropy and field practitioners to design, pilot and scale both innovation and collective action that advances social movements through their Movement Commons Lab. Mario comes to the organization via Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school), where he served as a 2016-2017 Civic Innovation Fellow, as well as Guidestar, where he held the position of Entrepreneur-in-Residence. He is the founder of the movement-building technology platform, Giving Side.
