CPF Spotlight: Julia Torres

Meet Julia Torres, one of the students the California Press Foundation is supporting through its Internship Grant Program this year.

A recent graduate of California State University, Northridge, Julia is making the transition from classroom to professional newsroom through an internship with Melodic Magazine, a digital and print publication covering artists, albums and music industry news.

At Melodic Magazine, Julia reports on music news and researches and reviews new releases across a variety of genres.

During her time at CSUN, Julia served as the news editor of The Daily Sundial, the university's award-winning student-run multimedia publication. In that role, she oversaw campus coverage ranging from policy changes to breaking news.

Julia is committed to community-centered reporting and to producing accurate, impactful journalism for the communities she serves.
