      Eleven grants awarded for campus news equipment

      Eleven California campus news programs will receive 2023 Equipment Grants from the California Press Foundation to improve their production hardware and software.

      A total of $15,100 will be distributed, with grant funding ranging from $750 to $1,500.

      The grants go toward the purchase of new hardware or software, or for upgrades to
      improve the quality of the publication’s content and delivery.

      The recipients for 2023 are:

      • Academy of the Redwoods-AR Argus, Eureka
      • Aragon High-The Aragon Outlook, San Mateo
      • The Branson School-The Blazer, Ross
      • Cypress High-Centurion Spotlight, Cypress
      • De Anza College-La Voz, Cupertino
      • El Camino College-The Union, Torrance
      • Granite Bay High-Granite Bay Today
      • Inspire School of Arts & Sciences, Chico
      • Ridgeview High-Pack News, Bakersfield
      • Riverside City College-Viewpoints
      • Washington Prep High-Photojournalism, Los Angeles

      Sixteen campuses applied for grants. A panel of five Cal Press executives reviewed the
      applications.

      Applications for the 2024 Equipment Grants program will be accepted in Spring 2024.

      Since 2000, Cal Press has helped over 140 campus news programs fund new equipment. View all previous recipients.
